GTA 6 Devs: Don't Boycott, Help Us Win Justice

Former Rockstar developers fired in a UK union dispute are asking fans to play GTA 6 but help support their legal battle instead.

Fired Devs Want Fans to Play, Not Boycott

A group of former Rockstar Games developers who worked on GTA 6 are sending a clear message to fans: please don't boycott the game. The workers, who are members of the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB), are currently in a legal dispute with Rockstar after being let go, and they want their creative contributions to the game to be enjoyed — not avoided.

In a video shared by the IWGB, the former employees explained that they spent years pouring genuine effort into building GTA 6, and they would rather players experience what they helped create than use a boycott as a form of protest on their behalf.

What They're Asking For Instead

While they're not asking fans to skip the game, the fired developers are still calling for support in other ways:

  • Buy a campaign t-shirt — proceeds go directly toward supporting the workers and funding their legal case
  • Spread awareness — sharing the story helps keep public attention on the dispute
  • Don't let Rockstar off the hook — the devs are clear that enjoying the game doesn't mean accepting what they describe as union-busting behaviour

Background on the Dispute

The legal saga began on October 30, 2025, when 31 employees at Rockstar's UK office were dismissed without warning or explanation. All of the affected staff were reportedly IWGB members, which forms the basis of the union-busting allegations the workers are now pursuing through legal channels.

Rockstar Games has not publicly commented on the specifics of the case. GTA 6 remains on track for its release on November 19, 2026, and this dispute does not appear to have affected the game's development timeline.
