GTA 6 Extended Look: Biggest Things We Learned
Rockstar's Netflix Extended Look revealed six-star wanted levels, pettable dogs, and an 80-hour runtime for GTA 6.
Rockstar Finally Shows GTA 6 in Action
After years of near-silence following the initial announcement, Rockstar Games used a Netflix-exclusive showcase — Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look — to pull the curtain back on real gameplay. From open-world activities to story missions and combat, there was a lot to digest. Here are the most notable takeaways.
Six-Star Wanted Levels Are Back
One of the most talked-about reveals is the return of the six-star wanted system, which was dropped in GTA 5. Details on exactly what triggers the top tiers are still sparse, but one interesting new wrinkle is visible: icons beneath the stars appear to display the specific crimes authorities have clocked against you. That suggests a more reactive, record-keeping law enforcement system compared to previous entries.
You Can Pet (or Scold) Dogs
On the lighter side, players spotted a button prompt allowing them to interact with dogs found out in the world — and the options go two ways. You can either pet them or, if you're feeling villainous, scold them. It's a small detail, but it signals the kind of world-building depth Rockstar is known for pushing in each new generation.
Expect a Very Long Playthrough
Rockstar North's Rob Nelson mentioned his own playthrough clocked in at around 80 hours — and that almost certainly doesn't account for all the side content. For context, GTA 5's main story runs roughly 30 hours, so GTA 6 looks to be a significantly larger undertaking. Fans of Red Dead Redemption 2's sprawling pace should feel right at home.
Release reminder: GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026. Check our news hub for ongoing coverage as more details emerge from the extended look.
There's clearly plenty more to unpack from the showcase, so stay tuned as we dig deeper into everything shown.
