GTA 6 Map Confirmed Twice the Size of GTA 5
Game Informer reveals GTA 6's Leonida map is twice the size of GTA 5, split across six distinct regions with a dual-protagonist story setup.
The Leonida Map Is Massive — Officially
For months, fans have been piecing together leaked images and community measurements trying to estimate how big GTA 6's map actually is. Now we have a straight answer: Leonida is confirmed to be roughly twice the size of GTA 5's Los Santos and Blaine County. Rockstar hasn't just nudged the scale up — according to Game Informer's recent deep-dive issue, the world is the largest the studio has ever built, beating out even the sprawling frontier of Red Dead Redemption 2 by a meaningful margin.
Six Regions to Explore
The map is divided into six named areas, each apparently offering a distinct flavour of Leonida life:
- Vice City — the neon-soaked urban core fans have been waiting to revisit
- Leonida Quays — waterfront and port-adjacent territory
- Grassrivers — likely the wetlands and bayou-style countryside seen in trailers
- Port Gellhorn — an industrial or harbour district
- Ambrosia — details still thin, but the name suggests a wealthier enclave
- A sixth region whose full name wasn't captured in the source
How these zones connect into one seamless open world will be one of the most interesting things to see when the game launches. Check our map page as we add confirmed location details closer to release.
How the Story Kicks Off
On the narrative side, Game Informer clarifies that players will likely begin as Jason, since co-protagonist Lucia is still behind bars at the game's opening. Once she's out, the two team up for what seems like a straightforward score — both of them chasing a better, wealthier life. Things go sideways quickly, and a wider mystery threading across all of Leonida begins to unfold.
This is still based on pre-release coverage. Details may shift before GTA 6 arrives on November 19, 2026.
